North Carolina has 37 species of snakes, with six being venomous and 31 being nonvenomous. The Six venomous snakes are a Copperhead, Cottonmouth, Timber rattlesnake, Pigmy rattlesnake, Eastern diamondback rattlesnake and Eastern coral snake. Snakes like to follow mice and rats, and they will most likely be getting in through miscellaneous holes through foundation vent screens/missing vents, plumbing penetrations along with the snakes please see our Mice and rat page.
